THE JOURNEY TILL COVID-19

CONTAGIOUS DISEASES IN TIME PAST

The world has experienced pandemics in the past before now(Spanish flu, smallpox, rabies, tuberculosis, leprosy, typhoid fever, the bubonic and pneumonic plagues, malaria, HIV/AIDS, and so on), when there was very little or progressive knowledge about medical care. Traveling back with the power of our mind, it would have been a very devastating and scary time in the world, friends who suddenly died, family members who suddenly got quiet because they were snatched by the cold hands of death, life definitely would have come to a standstill as well. Diseases have come and gone, the world has battled with a lot of them and in some cases had to adjust to a new way of life to remain alive.

COVID-19 VIRUS (THE SHOW STOPPER)

Covid-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment. It started in China in December of 2019, the outbreak was declared a public health emergency of international concern in January 2020, and a pandemic in march 2020. This disease made the whole world stand still.

HOW WE COULD POSSIBLY REDUCE THE SPREAD.

Some possible ways in which we can stop the spread of this virus are as follows;

  1. Clean your hands often. Use soap and water or an alcohol-based sanitizer
  2. Maintain social distancing of about 2 meters from people.
  3. Wear a mask in crowded places.
  4. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
  5. Stay home if you feel unwell.
  6. If you have a fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention.
  7. Cover your nose and mouth with your bent elbow when you sneeze or cough.

WHAT IS THE ANSWER OR THE END TO THIS VIRUS?

Well at a time like this, this is a very difficult question to answer, let us call a spade a spade. Medical science is baffled at how with the level of advancement in research, the disease has been prevalent for a year plus defying already existing medical care in severe cases. Hope and Faith are to what we have at the moment, while we follow the rules and remain careful in our movements, we should all pray, and as we do so, changes would definitely come and the world would tell the stories of this past hard year as well.
